Rhiza Church began in 2020 with a simple yet powerful mission: to help people get rooted in God’s love. The name Rhiza means ”root,” symbolizing our deep desire to see lives transformed through Jesus.
We launched with excitement, but just three weeks in, the world shut down due to COVID-19. Like so many, we had to pivot—but instead of slowing down, we saw it as an opportunity to innovate. For 20 months, we became a fully virtual church, creating new ways for people to connect and grow in their faith. We developed an interactive app, built a thriving digital presence on YouTube, Spotify, and social media, and held pop-up gatherings in public spaces to cultivate community. We didn’t just survive—we grew.
As we searched for a permanent home, we met in multiple venues before God provided in an unexpected way: a church in Ypsilanti, Michigan, graciously gifted us their building as they closed their doors. What started as a challenge became a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
Today, Rhiza is a growing, diverse church made up of people from different backgrounds, cultures, and generations. We are passionate about creating a place where everyone can belong, grow, and be rooted in God’s love.
Whether you’re searching for faith, looking for a community, or just curious, we invite you to join us on this journey. Let’s get rooted together.
